Healing, tattoo Nurse

Hey All, been a super long while since i've done one of these here blogs. Been wanting to, just never seem to be able to find the time. So here we go.
Coming up this October, myself along with a few other tattooers are being asked to head over to Israel to tattoo a handful of locals who's lives have been somehow effected by the local war and tragedies going on there. I was asked to do one of my gals as sort of a advert for the event. Heres a small break down on how I go about it.
Start with my preliminary sketches. Went with straight up Capo Gals, and also tried to work up some ideas for more of an Old School Tattoo nurse.
We eventually decided to go with more of a contemporary tattooed gal.
After the initial sketch is done, i'll transfer the image to the surface. In this case a simple Brown Toned paper from Strathmore. I'll do my initial drawing for values, using a PrismaColor VERITHIN pencil. It should be noted that I sketch with a PrismaColor Col-Erase pencil. But I've found out (the hard way) that the Col-Erase pencils are not Light fast, and therefor will fade in time.
Next step is blocking in color with a paint brush, or Alcohol Markers (PrismaColor, or Copic). In this case I used paint, and brush for time, and convenience.
Than immediately get int paint with my airbrush. I usually use an Iwata Custom Micron, or HP-A. But I recently purchased a New Badger Patriot 150 Extreme. Was very excited to get it, (been wanting to support a US company for a long time) and even more excited when it work amazingly well.
I have to admit that half the reason for wanting to support Badger is that they are made in the US. The other half is that they are literally 1/2 the cost of a japanese airbrush. I know it sounds cheap. But fuck it. I like to buy, and try different gear. in this case it was about $190. vs. +300-500 for the Iwata. So cost plays a part.
I will say that this airbrush performed very well. But won't "highly" recommend it till i've got a few more paintings under my belt. So keep an eye peeled for more info.
After my initial airbrushing is complete, I go at the piece cleaning up edges, adding textures, and highlights with PrismaColor pencils, and paint brush.
I suppose I should mention that Im using all Golden, and Holbein
Liquid acrylics. Been using them for year, and dig em.
Hope this very quick little blog helps a few of ya's out there.
Keep an eye out for more folks. Also keep an eye on my Periscope. I did do 3 live feeds while producing this piece Im under whatsnottalike
Enjoy...
